Olive Speckle Series (Teacup)
Ocha (green tea) is a comfort drink to the artist. Sipping ocha on a lazy afternoon while reading a book is the simple joy of life. This series of cups was inspired by a trip to Japan in 2019 for the Setouchi Triennale. Artist visited Shōdoshima island - famous for being the first in Japan to successfully cultivate olives. When the artist made an order of the new glaze – Deep Olive Speckles, it remaindered her of the trip to the island. These teacups were the result of the reminisces of the trip.
The teacups were handcrafted using Pinching technique. Each varies slightly in size and finishing.
